Primary and Intermediate
Students
This is a glimpse of what we can provide, details on specific
disciplines are below.
Imagine your class being taught the skills to paddle a Canadian canoe across
beautiful Blueskin Bay, out onto the island. Arriving in time to cook their
lunch on a cooker, maybe we could collect some cockles and cook them on the
fire, or take time to explore the island and practice our navigation or play
beach games, or any combination of things that would make for a brilliant day.
Your role in this could be as simple as being a participant and enjoying the
cockles.
Wild Earth staff are very familiar
with instructing at Otago school camp
facilities such as Berwick, Tautuku Waiora and Sutton.
Not only did the children have a
fantastic, fun day that they are still talking about, but
the rafting experience also greatly enhanced their self-confidence
in a real outdoor environment and has become an integral
part of our Year 5 water safety programme.

Orienteering
Watch your students enjoy an exciting treasure hunt whilst
gaining skills in map reading and interpretation and working
as a team or individuals.
Adventure Based Learning (team initiatives)
Your students will think these activities are pure fun
but the learning opportunities are carefully structured
to enhance and encourage your students initiative, self
confidence, team co-operation and communication skills.

Canoeing
An excellent option for a day trip or even an overnight
experience. Because canoeing happens in pairs it encourages
excellent communication and problem solving skills. Your
students will learn basic paddling skills and have the opportunity
to participate
in
water safety activities and other outdoor options.
Kayaking
It's all about getting comfortable in and around water!
This can begin in the pool to get used to being in a kayak
and follow through a sound progression to flat-water activities
and games. We can help increase your students' water confidence
by providing fun, sequenced learning sessions.

Rafting on Ripples
Take your students on a brilliant day out rafting the fabulous
Taieri Gorge. The gentle Grade 1 & 2 rapids are ideally suited to younger students. Many
opportunities for learning on topics such as water safety, native flora & fauna
and the history of the area.
"The bush
walk was really nice, I even saw two fantails"
"The most fun bit of rafting was everything"
"All I can say is GO RAFTING!"
Year 6 students, St Joseph's Cathedral School
Bush Craft
Your students will learn the basics about being
in the bush and how to keep themselves safe and warm. The
damper and
marshmallows are always a hit!
