Introduction to Kayaking

Introduction to KayakingOur Introduction to Kayaking is aimed at beginners and at getting you comfortable in a kayak. This fun, safe course runs over three, 1/2 day sessions. Sessions include pool time, flat water and surf. This course runs within the Dunedin City area.

Rolling Clinics

Enjoy the challenge of learning this skill. Rolling kayaks (all the way around) is an ancient art of its own. Each session is spent taking you through a step by step progression enabling you to work at your own pace. We will focus on getting you orientated upside down in your boat, rolling with a float and then a paddle. We offer either intensive one on one courses or group lessons.

Includes pool entry and all kayak gear.
Please bring togs, poly pro top and a nose plug if required

Grade 2 Certificate

Get the Edge!

These clinics are designed to train you for competitive triathlon and multi sports events. Coast to Coast, Gold Rush and 24 Hour Race Kayak Certification is our specialty. At Wild Earth we want your kayak leg to be your strongest leg of any multi sports event. We can upgrade your skills and help you with your training programme.

Courses are available from beginner to refresher and vary in length from 1 to 5 days. Contact us and we will advise on the most suitable course for your skill level.

Assessments

If you already have the skills then a one day assessment may be all that you need to gain that Grade 2 Certificate. Contact us for further details.

All our courses are run in plastic boats to enhance learning opportunities. All kayaking gear is provided.

Introduction to White Water Kayaking

This course focuses on taking those basic flat water kayaking skills on to the river. Let us make that transition to moving water a smooth, fun, safe and positive experience.

Courses run for 2-3 days depending on your hunger for learning!

The first part of the course educates you on aspects of river safety and river respect including river features, hydrology and local effects.

Then it is all about getting wet! Learn what to do with yourself and your boat in moving water while enjoying yourself at some of Otago's local river spots.

Intermediate White Water Kayaking

If you want to take your paddling to the next level, to be introduced to some new rivers, or have a personal goal to paddle Grade 3 water then this course can get you there.

River Safety Courses

River Safety CoursesMany people paddle unaware of potential dangers. Do not wait until it is too late. Acquire the training needed to manage risks - don't let risk damage you!

Examples of topics covered are river rescue skill competencies, personal skill competencies & adaptations, entrapments, rope management, team management and communication.

Course duration: 2 days

Play Boating Clinic

We'd love an excuse to bring down one of the Guru's to play!
