Picture yourself in a sea kayak cruising amongst Otago's
coastal wildlife, or paddling out in the wild blue Pacific.
No sea kayaking experience is needed; you'll be given a full
safety briefing prior to departure. Double sea kayaks provide
a safe and stable tour. There are some amazing photographic
opportunities, you might see the unexpected...

Ocean Discovery Tour
 Sea
kayak along the wild beaches and soaring sea cliffs of Otago
Peninsula to the headland and the Royal Albatross colony.
Bring your camera for this wildlife experience, with species
such as the Royal Albatross, NZ Fur Seals and Sea Lions,
Penguins and Shags often sighted.

Eco-marine Tour
From Portobello kayak the inner Peninsula and visit Quarantine
Island (Kaumautaurua), site of native bush regeneration projects
and restoration of historic buildings. Experience the cultural
history and beautiful landscape of the Otago Peninsula.

Twilight Discovery Tour
Sea kayak along the majestic Otago Peninsula exploring the
marine environment, seeing wildlife returning from feeding
for the day, view the sunset. This tour option is only run
from October to March.
Departure: 6.00pm from the Octagon
Return: 10.00pm to the Octagon.

Penguin Kayak Combo Adventure
Leave Dunedin with Wild Earth Adventures on an Ocean
Discovery Tour, view the wildlife, headland and Royal Albatross from the sea. Then spend some time exploring the village of Portobello, the Aquarium or Albatross Centre (entry fees apply). Peninsula Wildlife Journey
Start your journey paddling to the historic Kaumautaurua Island (Quarantine Island). Take a stroll on the Island and paddle across to investigate the Quarantine Point caves and Wellers Rock, an early whaling site. Follow the Otago Peninsula coastline paddling your way past New Zealand Fur Seal colonies, Penguin and Shag roosting sites and the world’s only mainland Royal Albatross colony. Enjoy a fully catered picnic lunch on one of the Peninsula’s beautiful sandy beaches. After lunch enjoy a leisurely paddle taking in further attractions in this world famous wildlife area. This trip requires a good level of fitness.

What do I need?
You should bring:
- Sun hat, glasses, and sun block
- Wind breaker/waterproof jacket
- Warm clothing - i. e. polypropylene thermals, polar fleece
- Change of clothing & towel for after your tour
- A camera!
Each tour takes approximately 4 hours return from the city
centre. We spend 2 hours at sea.
Tours include safety equipment, kayak gear, experienced,
friendly guides and refreshments. Courtesy transport is available.
We offer courses in white
water kayaking, corporate
adventures and team building, Grade
2 multi sport certificates. Information about other
courses on offer is available elsewhere on this website.

Sea Kayak Tour Terms & Conditions
- At the time of booking your tour Wild Earth Adventures
will take your credit card details as confirmation of your
booking. This credit card will only be charged for any applicable
cancellation fees (as detailed below) or for your tour costs,
as directed by you, once your tour is underway. Your card
details will not be kept on file. Tour payments may be in cash or by credit card. All credit card transactions will incur a 2.5% surcharge fee.
- Once you make a booking, if for safety reasons Wild Earth
Adventures deems the tour to be unsafe, or is unable to take
you out sea kayaking, we will refund you any paid booking
fee or tour costs 100%.
- If you give Wild Earth Adventures between 24 - 48 hours
notice of cancellation of your booking Wild Earth Adventures
will charge a $15 booking fee to your credit card.
- If on the day of your tour you decide not to turn up for whatever reason we will charge to your credit card the full $95 tour fee per person.
- If you decide to transfer your tour to another date we
will transfer your booking with no penalty fees.
